A Guide to help understand and take measurements for jewelry.

Measurement and sizing can be tricky without proper knowledge, know how and tools. I will be sharing some basic guides and examples on how to measure for body jewelry, cuff, ring sizes and more!

Ring Sizing

There are several ways to go about ring sizing but I highly recommend getting a proper sizing by your local jeweler or order a ring sizer off the internet. Especially for engagement and fine jewelry

If that is not an option, here is a method on how to measure your ring size at home. You use a string to wrap around your finger then measure the length of the string. I recommend using Milliliters for a more accurate sizing.

Cuff Size

Cuff sizing is fairly strait forward . If you have a measuring tape , you just wrap it around your wrist to measure its circumfrance. You can use a string as well and compare it to a ruler.

Body Jewelry

Body jewelry needs multiple specific measurements. You need to know your gauge AND hoop size.

Gauge means the thickness of the hoop itself.

Hoop size is the inner circumference of the hoop.

Your gauge and hoop size doesn’t just apply to septum jewelry, it applies to all body jewelry and its important to know if you're buying body jewelry off the internet or in person.

Standard septum gauge is 16g but can easily be different depending on what it was pierced at or the jewelry you have in.

18 gauge is standard for side nose jewelry but may go down to 20g or up to 16g depending on how it was pierced.

Standard ear wire for earrings is 21-20g

Hope this helps everyone and feel free to reach out to me if you have questions about sizing. Im happy to help to the best of my abilities .
